Hello and compliments of the season!
It is that beautiful time of the year, Christmas!
For a few years, my family gloried in what soon became a forgotten tradition of chopping down a big lemon tree branch and throwing some fancy decorations on it. The demise of that tradition came as a joy to most of us who, quite frankly did not possess the emotional capabilities to see another Christmas around the wild tree.
The design of our traditional tree was not at all displeasing. In fact, I’d say with a little bit of tweaking here and there it would actually pass for a magnificently artistic creation. We simply had enough of it for a while and it was time to move on to a more contemporary type of tree.
I decided to revive the old tradition, only this time it was on a much smaller scale and of a far less flamboyant fashion.
I would like to share with you a few steps on how I made my mini Christmas tree. So, without further ado, let’s get into it!
What you will need are:
- Tree branches from any tree of your choice and what ever size you desire.
- Spray paint. I used white and silver.
- Old newspapers or a large plastic to spray on.
Before you start, ensure that you are dressed in clothing that you do not mind staining. I would also recommend wearing a dust mask to reduce inhalation of the paint, as well as gloves to prevent your hands from getting messy. The spraying must be done outdoors.
Break off the branches you need and shake off any dust or bugs. Hold them up together to ensure you get the shape you want.
Start spraying the branches, ensuring that you sufficiently coat them. I started by spraying my branches with white spray paint. if you would like to keep your branches white, go ahead and let the first coat hold for about 10 minutes.
Administer either the second white coat or the silver coat to your branches. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes before you move them to allow the paint to dry completely.
To decorate your tree, arrange the branches in either a flower pot or a vase, depending on the size of your branches. Now is the time to show off your creativity. Hang what ever ornaments you would like. you can even throw some Christmas cards in the mix. Let your inner child come alive! 😄
Thank you for reading and Happy Holidays!
